SUPERB – Forest restoration in the Po Valley

SUPERB developed and tested solutions for large-scale forest restoration across twelve European demonstration areas. ForestLab contributed to the Po Valley Demo in the Milan metropolitan area, where new experimental forests were established to test planting strategies better adapted to future climatic conditions.

Activities compared initial planting densities and geographic provenances and monitored soil conditions, survival, growth and vegetation competition. Sites at Legnano, Villa Cortese, Vittuone and Inveruno form a long-term experimental network for assessing the development and resilience of new forests in the Po Valley.
