OK!Clima – Making climate change tangible

OK!Clima focuses on making climate change understandable through its observable consequences and through choices that can be discussed at the scale of places, communities and everyday decisions. Climate change is often communicated through global averages or distant scenarios, whereas many of its most relevant effects emerge through heat, drought, changes in water availability, disturbance regimes, ecosystem responses and impacts on human activities. The project works on translating these processes into forms that make the connections between scientific evidence, local experience and possible responses more explicit.

Forest ecosystems provide particularly effective examples because they record climatic variability through growth, mortality, regeneration and disturbance while also influencing carbon, water, temperature and biodiversity. Forest Lab contributes scientific knowledge that helps distinguish observed impacts from expected future risks and mitigation from adaptation. This is important for avoiding simplified narratives in which every environmental change is directly attributed to climate or individual actions are presented as sufficient responses to systemic problems. The project instead emphasizes causal relationships, uncertainty and the different temporal scales at which climate processes operate.
