FIRE-BOX developed a nationally harmonised, open-access toolbox for wildfire prevention, simulation and risk management. The project integrates fuel classification and parameterisation, wildfire reconstruction, fire weather, burn severity, emissions and fire-spread modelling.

Outputs include national fuel-type and fuel-model maps, a 2007–2024 wildfire database linked to Fire Weather Index and burn severity, tools for hazard, exposure, vulnerability and risk assessment, and applications in six Italian National Parks. Data, maps and reports are publicly available through the project website.
