FORbEST – Safeguarding Carbon and Biodiversity across European Forest Ecosystems

FORbEST investigates the forest biodiversity–climate nexus to identify conservation, management and restoration strategies capable of maintaining forests rich in both carbon and biodiversity. The project works across six case-study areas through Living Labs and integrates ecological, economic and social knowledge into the design of management options.

ForestLab contributes to assessing how management, climate change and disturbances affect forest structure and functioning using monitoring, remote sensing and modelling. The project also develops new approaches for joint carbon and biodiversity monitoring and for identifying strategies that maximise synergies between the two.
